Good news on the local economy Kent Thameside
New opportunities for construction and distribution
The growth of Kent Thameside’s economy will produce new jobs, with key growth sectors likely to be finance and business, transport and distribution, retail, hospitality, light industrial, and construction. All underpinned by an enhanced public sector.

Employment predictions indicate a total of 38,000 new jobs coming to Kent Thameside over the next 20 years as a result of the regeneration of the area. This is in addition to the 12,000 new jobs that have already arrived with the advent of Bluewater and Crossways.

Predictions indicate:
  • Finance and business 29,000 jobs
  • Transport and distribution 1,200 jobs
  • Retail 2,600 jobs
  • Hospitality 1,200
  • Light industrial 1,600
  • Construction 900
  • Public Sector 1,500

The majority of these jobs will be at Ebbsfleet Valley (23,000), The Bridge (7,500), Dartford and Gravesham town centres (5000) and Waterfront Developments (2,500).
  • A local employment initiative, Employ Kent Thameside (EKT) has been set up to ensure that local residents can access the jobs coming to the area.
