The Minister travelled on the Fastrack system to Gravesend and Dartford town centres, as well as to some of the new residential areas in Kent Thameside, including The Bridge, Dartford, and Ingress Park. The Bridge, a joint venture between Dartford Borough Council and ProLogis, is a £500m mixed-use development covering 264 acres which will deliver 1,500 new homes and 1.8 million sq ft of commercial space, including The Nucleus Innovation Centre. Ingress Park is an award-winning Crest Nicholson housing development. The route covered by the Minister demonstrated the excellent transport links delivered by the service from town centres to residential areas and railway stations, including Greenhithe station for Bluewater shopping centre. Now in its fourth year, Fastrack has carried more than 5 million passengers on its 16-mile network, transforming the area’s public transport and receiving four national awards for its innovative service. The future development of Fastrack in Kent Thameside provides exciting opportunities for further regeneration and investment in the area. "Fastrack has already received wide recognition in the UK for its exceptional level of service in Kent Thameside, and we are delighted that the Transport Minister was able to see the vital role the service plays in the Kent Thameside area."
