The area has unrivalled public transport links with mainland Europe, centred around the new Ebbsfleet International Station. Regular Eurostar services to Paris, Brussels and Lille started in November 2007. High speed domestic services follow 2 years later, with journey times from Ebbsfleet to St Pancras of just 17 minutes. Public transport is critical to the regeneration of Kent Thameside. Central to this is a new, high quality bus rapid transport network – Fastrack – designed to link existing communities with new developments, and to encourage high levels of public transport use. Two Fastrack routes are now open and provide regular connections to the area’s major rail stations for onward travel on Southeastern’s train services. Arriva operates an extensive bus network serving the area. On the motorways and roads, the Highways Agency is currently carrying out 3 major schemes in the area.
