Thames and Waterfront

The River Thames is Kent Thameside’s greatest environmental and natural asset. Development of the nine miles of water frontage presents a one-off opportunity to bring about change in Kent Thameside.

The waterfront is one of the top ten housing locations identified in the Thames Gateway Delivery Plan. New homes are helping to regenerate former waterfront industrial sites at Ingress Park and the Canal Basin as well as creating a unique opportunity to enhance the identity of the historic towns of Dartford and Gravesend.

Thames and Waterfront

The Kent Thameside Regeneration Partnership is keen to:

  • develop access to the river through waterfront cycleways and footpaths
  • improve water quality to attract wildlife
  • provide links between the Thames Path and Saxon Shore Way
  • increase connectivity between the Kent and Essex shores
  • manage flood risk safely.
