New developments have been planned with pedestrians and cyclists in mind. This makes it easy for people to leave the car at home. Enjoy freedom and independence!
Southeastern Trains and Fastrack rapid transit offer online journey planning. Here are some ways to benefit from the communications network:
- The M2 and A2 bisect the area east to west. The A282 Dartford crossing links the area to Essex and Surrey. Great for business!
- National Cycle Route One starts in Gravesend and goes all the way to Dover.
- Gravesend is starting point for the Weald Way to Eastbourne (129 km/80 miles) and the Saxon Shore Way, 261km/163 miles round the Kent coast to Hastings.
- The Darent Valley Path starts at the mouth of the river and provides links from the centre of Dartford to the countryside.
- The Bridge, Dartford benefits from a direct link to the Thames Path, a national trail taking people to the source of the river, 184 miles/294 km west.
- The area has 9 miles of riverside walks and cycle paths, and a Green Grid of parks, gardens and nature reserves integrating existing open space with areas in new developments.
