Local councils and major companies with interests in Dartford and Gravesham on the south bank of the Thames, set up the Kent Thameside Association in 1993. It became the Kent Thameside Delivery Board in 2003.
Our aim is to bring new jobs and homes to this part of the Thames Gateway in South East England. We work to accomplish this at local and national levels, in the mutual interest of partner organisations and local communities. We have always recognised that, for the new communities to be sustainable, we need to provide excellent public transport; and invest in parkland and green spaces.
Ebbsfleet Valley within Kent Thameside is one of four key ‘transformational locations’ identified in the Thames Gateway Interim Plan, alongside Canary Wharf, The 2012 Olympic site/Stratford City, and the Gateway Ports cluster.
The Board’s Regeneration Framework, established in 2005, has six strategic objectives:
- Encourage businesses of all sizes to become more competitive
- Promote high quality public transport provision
- Deliver innovation and mixed use in developments
- Integrate new and existing communities to improve quality of life
- Raise standards in education and skills
- Enhance the natural and man made environment
